Video surveillance
Within our portfolio there are a couple of properties where video surveillance is used inside and around the property. Examples include our shopping malls and wharfs. Cameras are installed in those places where we have assessed there to be a need. Such places are clearly marked with signs in each location. Below we describe how Diös processes your personal data in conjunction with video surveillance and what we do to make sure that the processing of your personal data is performed responsibly and according to the requirements of applicable laws.
What personal data is collected?
We may collect and process video material of you that comes from the video surveillance that is installed in some of our properties. If video surveillance is in place, this is clearly indicted with signs in the property. In the event that the video material contains an identified or identifiable physical person, this constitutes personal data.
Purpose and legal grounds for video surveillance
The legal basis for our video surveillance always requires a weighing up of interests. That is to say that we have assessed that video surveillance is needed to increase security in and around our properties, to prevent/reduce damage and other disturbances, and to be able to ensure safety and order for people including our tenants, those looking for homes, partners, staff, visitors and those passing by our properties.
How long is recorded material stored?
To minimise the risk of intrusion of personal privacy, we have chosen to minimise/shorten the storage time for recorded material as far as possible, ensure that only a very few people at Diös have access to the recorded material, and have continuous procedures in place that govern how recorded materials may be processed and provided to others. The need for video surveillance is re-assessed every six months and if there is no longer a need then the camera is taken down.
We adhere to Fastighetsägarna’s and SABOs (Public Housing Sweden) guidance on video surveillance.
How do we process your personal data?
We are very restrictive in providing video material to others, but it is sometimes necessary. This means that those that may be given access to the material, over and above a limited circle of people at Diös, are entities that act as data processors on behalf of Diös, such as systems providers that store recorded materials. Personal data may also be provided to public authorities in the event that this is required by law or statutory decision, or to the relevant law enforcement authorities when required, for example for a criminal investigation.
We do not transfer personal data to any countries outside the EU/EEA, as a rule, and in the event that this does occur, it takes place according to specific strict requirements and contracts.
Your rights
We always aim to be transparent in how we process your personal data. If you would like to know the personal data that we process about you, in certain circumstances you have the right to receive information and a copy of the personal data we have about you and how we process the data. Amongst other things, your request needs to include details that allow us to identify you in our recorded material. We need this to ensure that we provide the data to the right person.
- You have the right to have incorrect personal data about you corrected and supplemented.
- In some cases, you also have the right to have your personal data erased, for example if it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected. You can request erasure and restriction of your personal data, to the extent that this complies with applicable laws.
- You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data in the event that we process personal data, after we have weighed up the different interests.
- You also have the right to have your personal data transferred to a different personal data controller if this is technically possible, referred to as data portabililty.
